The ICD-10 FastTrack workshop is designed to teach ICD-9 coders the additional skills they’ll need to successfully use the new ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code sets. This workshop will train aspiring healthcare and information technology professionals to be part of the country's emerging health IT industry. Elements of the program include: a comprehensive overview of human body systems, health information terminology; communication in healthcare, privacy laws, ethical issues and the role of HIPPA in the digital electronic health record (EHRs). Students will review basic computing, computer architecture, data organization, programming languages, networking, hardware components, software applications, the HITECH Act and the concept of “meaningful use”. Students will document system interfaces and integration requirements, databases, applications, and operating systems. Includes approaches to assess, select and configure EHRs, how to conduct workflow analysis, functions of all layers of the ISO OSI models, data standards; components of health IT standards (including HL7 and TC215) for health information exchange, and a review of enterprise architecture models. Students will review project management principles, tools and techniques. Nationally Recognized Certification Exams:
Students who complete this program would be qualified to sit for the following three (3) national HIT-Pro certification exams: 1) Technical/Software Support Staff competency exam; 2) Practice Workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialist competency exam and 3) the Implementation Support Specialist competency exams. HIT Pro are Workforce Development program exams sponsored by the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Pharmacy Technician
This comprehensive workshop will prepare students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the "top 200 drugs", I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. |
Phlebotomy Technician
This Phlebotomy Technician workshop prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Notes: This program includes national certification opportunities for students! There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. |
Physical Therapy Aide
This comprehensive Physical Therapy Aide Program prepares students for the growing field of physical therapy. The physical therapy aide is generally
responsible for carrying out the non-technical duties of physical therapy, such as preparing treatment areas, ordering devices and supplies, and transporting patients, while working under the direction of the physical therapist. Furthermore, these workers assist physical therapists in providing services to help improve patient mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. Physical therapy aides may be employed in nursing homes, hospitals, sports rehabilitation centers, and some orthopedic clinics. The program prepares students for an externship

Students will enjoy learning through classroom lecture as well as hands-on labs. Note: this program does not include a national or state certification or a clinical rotation as part of its overall objectives.
